If you we put in out thirty day notice and scheduled a walk through, transferred utilities, and such, that's it right? We don't have to sign any other documents stating that we are off the lease? I know our management co. signed and stamped our notice, should I ask for a copy for my own records or should it be ok? Also, when do we give them the prorated amount due to them for the following month? |||I doubt it. Unless your lease expired.
They acknowledged you are moving, that is not the same as letting you out of a perfectly enforceable lease. They are expecting rent until it expires.|||It depends on the company as to what they require. You should absolutely ask for a copy, if you don't have any proof of anything then they could really screw you over. It's always better to have the paperwork and not need it then to need it and not have it. Good luck!|||If you had a 12 mo lease, or an 18 mo lease, etc - and you are at the end of that time period, you can give 30 days notice, and be on your way. If you are past your original lease, you would have reverted to a month to month lease - and you can give 30 days notice, then move. However, if you still have months left on your lease, they will still expect you to pay monthly rent through the end of the lease period - they will take you to court in order to get it. Typically leases run from the 1st to the 1st, so when you give your notice, you will pay through the end of the month - if you are only staying a partial month, that makes me think you may be moving before your lease is up.
You should keep all paperwork - and get copies - of anything you sign. Rent should be paid at the 1st of the month. And - you should take pictures of everything before you move out, just to prove (in case you end up in court...) that you took good care of the property, and left it in good condition. Good luck :)|||Is your lease up in the thirty days then thirty days notice is all that is required. Always keep a copy of every piece of paper. Your lease states the dates that it is good for and what you need to do to move. You pay until the lease is up and you are out. And, always take pictures of how you left the apartment and when you move into a new one take pictures of the new one-dated ones are better. That way there is no confusion when you move about anything and you have proof. Sounds like you are doing everything right. You can always ask management too.|||You should keep copies of everything. Make sure you are not breaking your lease as there will be lots of extra penalties for that.
