I know that there are many svchost.exe's in your computer, and know their purpose.
One of them is taking up 50 cpu, and I don't know why. The services under that particular svchost are:
-Automatic Updates [wuauserv]
-Background Intelligent Transfer Service [BITS]
-COM+ Event System [EventSystem]
-Cryptographic Services [CryptSvc]
-DHCP Client [Dhcp]
-Error Reporting Service [ERSvc]
-Fast User Switching Compatibility [FastUserSwitchingCompatibility]
-Help and Support [helpsvc]
-Network Connections [Netman]
-Network Location Awareness (NLA) [Nla]
-Remote Access Connection Manager [RasMan]
-Security Center [wscsvc]
-Server [lanmanserver]
-Shell Hardware Detection [ShellHWDetection]
-System Event Notification [SENS]
-System Restore Service [srservice]
-Task Scheduler [Schedule]
-Telephony [TapiSrv]
-Themes [Themes]
-Windows Audio [AudioSrv]
-Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) [SharedAccess]
-Windows Management Instrumentation [winmgmt]-
-Wireless Zero Configuration [WZCSVC]
-Workstation [lanmanworkstation]
I'm running on a laptop, so I can tell that some of these services I don't really need, but that still brings up the question as to WHY this started happening. Please, any information would be very much appreciated.|||I've had a similar problem when i was running windows vista. It seems like its impossible to sort them all out so my personal experience i said forget it and went back to Xp but here is a website that may help you.
