What questions do you think they gonna ask me at the interview?

I have an interview for a Cash Management Technician position. It's a position within the department of the organization I work for - so I am already an employee who would just like to change position within the same department because the position is a higher grade position.

For your information, I am a Financial Technician and my duties are to prepare journal vouchers with supporting documents to enter them in ledger through the automated accounting system. I audit the aging accounts receivable schedule and initiate a collection process on any delinquent accounts as appropriated (phone calls/individual letters/command notifications). I am responsible for invoicing and contacting customers on a daily basis and following up on collection efforts with regard to such invoices. I prepare monthly organizational invoices, post payments and changes to an automated accounting system and I perform other related duties as assigned. I interact with customers and handle all customer correspondence or problems concerning accounts.

So below is the vacant position description, so that you can give me a hint on the questions they might ask related to the it.

Here it goes: "This position is located within the Finance %26amp; Central Cashier, Finance Unit, Accounting Management Office (AMO), Financial Branch, Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS). Serving as the bank liaison, this position is responsible for maintaining all MCCS and Transient Billeting Fund (TBF) bank accounts.

The incumbent performs all bank reconciliations for MCCS and TBF NAFI bank accounts. There are currently ten bank accounts to reconcile. These consist of six US Dollar, three Japanese Yen, and one Thai Baht accounts.

Responsible for providing monthly management reports on bank balances, bank charges, and other trends. Ensures proper account balances are available to meet expenditure needs by making recommendations for cash transfers and currency conversions among MCCS bank accounts to the Treasurer and performs monthly restatements for MCCS foreign currency accounts.

Responsible for researching irregular postings to all bank accounts and ensuring legitimacy of all charges posted to the account. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual banking reports as required by MCCS Support Activity, Quantico and other external reporting agencies. Serves as the bank liaison.

Oversees the work of two Central Cashiers working at teller鈥檚 window inside AMO and provides technical advice. Ensures that the Central Cashiers are completing Daily Activity Reports (DARs) properly and in a timely manner in accordance with MCCS cash handling procedures.

Prepares and maintains change fund and petty cash letters for funds disbursed from AMO, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the letters on file. Responsible for keeping a paper trail of all changes to accounts, such as new custodians, increase/decrease in amounts, and opening and closing of funds.

There are five accounts to be reconciled monthly in accordance with the change fund and petty cash accounts. These five accounts must be monitored at all times to ensure that they do not exceed the Commanding General's authorized amount. Provides documentation to Internal Control supporting the funds placed with the custodians for change funds and petty cash.

Responsible for helping coordinate and participate in MCCS special events that require the need for Central Cashiers. This entails receiving and assembling all change fund requirements for MCCS participating facilities and surplus change for non-MCCS vendors. Prepares a check request and authorization letter based on these requirements for the temporary change fund. Schedules the cashiers as needed based on the festival. Responsible for helping the Cashiers during the festivals and filling in when needed. Attends the festival planning meetings and after action meetings for all festivals.

Tracks and monitors the timing and amounts of payments received from AAFES, such as the AAFES distribution and Basic Wage Offset (BWO).

Tracks and monitors all returned check history."

As you can see, my current duties are different than the duties of the vacant position - but I still can leanr everything in less than a month - I am an Accountant by education.

How do I convince my interviewers that they should select me for the job? :)|||You need to take the similar things in your job and compare them to the new position. You need to stress your degree. They will have your appraisals from the current position. They will take all of that in account. What they will ask you is along the lines of what they see in your appraisals. Plus they will ask you how your present job is comparable to their position. Also how you handle stress.

You need to stay positive. You need to tell them that you want out of the job. The reason that you want the position besides the money. How it is a different scope of work with new challenges but nothing that is beyond your capability. But the challenges will expand your knowledge and your experiences. That you are willing to put in the work necessary to learn the job and to do it efficiently.
